Wowzers.
Most of you will recall the events of the evening. Some (ahem, Antony) will not. But either way, here's what went down...
Johnny Ludlow won it! Here's what he said:
“I’m very
pleased to win The Collective Fund Charity Draw. It is a great idea, well
executed, and I plan to donate it to a local charity which can feel the full
force of UK Location Managers’ generosity”
But you've heard this bit before, here's the update...
We are very proud to announce that the charities who benefited from Johnny's donation - and all of the location managers who donated their share of the fund to the charity draw - are the Action Community Forum and Clic Sergent (a charity who was also the sole beneficiary of the entire charity draw a couple of years ago). Both are a fantastic cause, and here is what they said:
Hi Collective Members,
The generous donation from the Collective has been able
to support a number of activities and initiatives for young people from South
Acton.
The funding is being used on projects and activities that
are providing young people with new opportunities and experiences. This began
in June and will be carrying on throughout the Summer.
To date we have:
- run a Parkour (free running) workshop for young people
on the estate as part of a healthy activity day
- taken a group of young people to attend a poetry
performance at London Literature Festival
- run an innovative art project at Acton Carnival where
young people took part in creating a new piece of artwork
Future projects and activities:
- we will be running a music and film making exchange
project with a youth group from Richmond borough. This will focus on giving
young people skills in music and film production.
- we will be working with young people who have limited
life experience to broaden their horizons. This programme will happen at the
end of the summer and will target peer groups from the estate. The programme
structure will be to meet at the centre, make a packed lunch and then go
somewhere that the group have not been before e.g. the beach, Windsor, the New
Forest, even Central London.
- finally in September we will run a follow up Parkour
workshop at another community event on the estate
Once again, sincere thanks
Action Community Forum
Hi Collective Members,
I am personally so grateful
for the wonderful donation.
The money will make a difference and in particular to the
5 year strategy we have in place to improve the tangible services that we are
able to offer to those who need it most, for example allowing us to develop
more specialist nurses who can help to look after children and young people at
home.
Please pass on our thanks to all at Location Collective,
and to Johnny in particular for obvious reasons! I continue to be humbled by how
much the Godfathers do for us.
Once again my sincerest
thanks for this sizeable donation!
Best wishes,
Gavin & Clic Sargent
