A report by Oxford Economics (you can read it by clicking here) said that the UK box office hit a whopping £410m last year, and that "on average, the presence of UK films boost UK cinemas’ box office receipts by nearly £69 million a year over and above the level we would expect if all films shown were foreign made".
Thanks to some great British-made titles, the UK industry is sustaining 117,400 jobs, competing globally in the export market, attracting film-loving tourists to the UK, driving forward new technologies, promoting growth through our big studio developments at Pinewood and Leavesden.
Great news for our industry! Give yourselves a pat on the back everyone.
The report stated that "with a significant upward trajectory over the last 20 years, the overall picture for the UK film industry is of continued long-term growth" ... so here's to twenty more years and beyond!
